Though many crimes involving ‘Babas’ and the blind beliefs people have towards this self-acclaimed God-men, there is yet another rich Baba after Ram-Rahim and he is famously known as Golden Baba.
Sudhir Makkar seld proclaimed god-man is otherwise known as the ‘Golden Baba’ is famously known for his love for gold ornaments and of course his participation wearing his gold jewelry in the Kanwar Yatra, HT reported.
This Golden Baba wears at least 25 gold chains which are not less than 500gm each. To his last year’s comparison, the golden baba’s gold possession that he wears on regular basis increased to 20kg’s of gold against last year’s 14.5 kg gold.
This 58-year-old ‘Golden Baba’ arrived in Ghaziabad on Monday, with his convoy which comprised of 21 luxury cars.
‘The gold has increased, by the grace of God. If the almighty permits and my health allows, I will continue my yatras. I have a severe stomach infection, which has deteriorated in the past three years. The infection interferes with the rites to be followed during Kanwar Yatra. I visited the best hospitals, even in Mumbai, but found no relief,’ Makkar says while speaking about his intention to start the Kanwar yatra.
This would be his last Kanwar yatra he had mentioned last year and definelty the best one since he spent nearly Rs 1.25 crore in hiring cars, Delhi’s best caterer and waterproof tents, along with doctors and an ambulance.
‘With the passage of time, my expenditure on the yatra increased every year. But I still remember my first yatra; it cost me just Rs 250. I still want to perform the yatra that way but it is difficult to return to those times. I remember sleeping in tents and eating food offered to devotees,’ he adds.
While Makkar does not only own gold chains, he also possesses 21 lockets (of deities), armlets and a Rolex watch that weighs half a kg and is valued around Rs 27 lakh, along with BMW, 3 Fotuners, 2 Audis and two Innovas.
Makkah, on various occasions, has rented Hummers, Jaguars and Land Rovers during the yatra who has immense love for luxurious life, gold and cars off course.
‘My love for gold and cars will not die. I will hand over the gold to my favourite disciple when I leave the world,’ he says.
Before becoming famous as Golden Baba, Makkar successfully ran a cloth and property business at the Gandhi Nagar market in Delhi and now owns a luxurious flat in Indirapuram.
Born to a poor family he attended gurukul at the age of six and went to Haridwar in search of a job.
‘Later, by the grace of Lord Shiva, my business flourished. I sold jeans, shirts and jackets; even my property business flourished,’ he recalls adding that he also sold flowers at pavements.
The Golden Baba is also known as Shri Mahant Ji Golden Puri Babaji and according to his disciples his properties estimations could reach ₹150 crore and more.
