Central government employees won’t get overtime allowance anymore. But like everything government, there’s a catch: operational staff will continue to get it.
- Operational staff are all non-ministerial non-gazetted employees directly involved in smooth operation of the office—like peons and electricians. Expect a lot of brainstorming on who is an operational staff and who is not.
- The condition, here again, is that those entitled to overtime will be linked to biometric attendance and the rates of the allowance won’t be revised.
