Tamil Nadu farmers stage nude protest outside South Block, demand drought relief fund
New Delhi, Apr 10: Tamil Nadu farmers continue to protest for drought relief in New Delhi. On Monday, the agitating farmers went nude in protest outside the South Block, demanding drought relief fund. As mark of protest, Tamil Nadu farmers staged a naked protest outside the South Block and demanded better drought-relief package from Narendra Modi government. Speaking on the issue, TN farmer leader, Ayyakannu said they want assurance from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on drought relief package.
According to reports, a group of agitating farmers was taken to the Prime Minister’s Office. The farmers submitted their memorandum of demands, after which some of them went nude on streets in protest. Half-naked farmers, who came from Thanjavur and Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu’s of Cauvery belt, have been on hunger strike with skulls of dead farmers since last 28 days. They are on dharna with skulls of dead farmers who had allegedly committed suicide. Last week, the protesting farmers got their heads tonsured in protest.
