The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will declare the results of 2018 JEE (Advanced) examination on Sunday. The exam was conducted on May 20. Candidates who secure all India rank up to 2,24,000 in JEE (Mains) appear for JEE (advanced) conducted by one of the IITs. While the mains examination is held in a single day over two papers, with each paper being of 180 marks, containing 60 marks for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The IIT Kanpur conducted JEE (Advanced) this year. Seat allocation will be declared on June 19.
The JEE (Advanced) results had mired into controversy after three aggrieved candidates had knocked the doors of the Gujarat High Court, alleging that the clarifications regarding answers of numerical-answer-type questions issued a day after the examination was substantially altered compared to the instructions provided to the candidates 20 minutes before the examination.
However, the HC recently refused to stay the results citing the announcement of results has all India ramification. This year, in order to improve the gender balance in the undergraduate programs at the IITs from the current 8 per cent to 14 per cent in 2018-19, a decision was taken to create supernumerary seats specifically for female candidates, without any reduction in the number of seats offered to male candidates. These seats will be offered to only those female candidates who qualify JEE (Advanced), 2018.
