Mumbai : Mumbai is set to face heavy rain with the weatherman expecting monsoon to hit the city in 48 hours, at least three days before schedule. The weather office has predicted "really heavy rains" that will "affect normal life" in Mumbai beginning Thursday.
It has been raining intermittently in the city since Saturday but after the start of the monsoon, the rain is likely to become heavier over the weekend till next Monday.
"Extremely heavy rainfall" is expected in parts of Mumbai, the met office has warned.
"Sustained heavy raining coming for a week starting on the 6th of June. (June) 8/9/10 can be extremely heavy. Warnings should be issued now. Just stay indoors," Skymet CEO Jatin Singh said on Twitter.
According to Skymet, a "cyclonic circulation" is forming over Konkan and Goa and it will gradually move north along the Maharashtra coast.
