Kalpana Kumari scored the highest marks in this year’s NEET, the nationwide exam held to select students for undergraduate medical and dental courses.
Kumari, who is from Bihar and trained for the exam in Delhi, had a percentile of 99.99 in NEET 2018, according to the Central Board of Secondary Education, which conducts the exam for government and private medical and dental colleges. She got 171 marks out of 180 in physics, 160 in chemistry and 360 out of 360 in biology, which combined botany and zoology, to get 691 marks out of 720 in NEET result 2018.
Rohan Purohit from Telangana and Himanshu Sharma from Delhi stood second and third in NEET 2018.
More than 13 lakh candidates registered for NEET 2018 on May 6 compared to 11.5 lakh last year, according to the board’s figures. There are 60,000 seats in medical and dental institutes across the country.
