Efforts to form a government in Karnataka have picked up pace on Wednesday after election results were declared a day earlier. The Congress and JD(S) which together have 115 seats in the new assembly have accused the BJP, which is nine seats short of a majority, of horse-trading.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led by BS Yedyurappa met Governor Vajubhai Vala to stake claim to form government.
The governor said appropriate decision would be taken as early as possible, BJP legislative party leader BS Yeddyurappa said after the meeting.
Meanwhile, the Congress, led by Siddharamiah, said it has extended unconditional support to JD(S) to form a government led by HD Kumaraswamy.
