Unnao Rape Case: CBI confirms rape charge against BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in its probe has confirmed the rape charge against the Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in Unnao case. The sexual assault had taken place at Senger’s home in UP’s Makhi village on June 4 last year with the help of his female aid, Shashi Singh who guarded his room by standing outside.

The CBI has recorded victim’s statement before a magistrate under CrPC Section 164. She stood by her allegations against the MLA from Bangarmau. Her that is admissible in court as evidence under CrPc Section 164. The Unnao rape case was shifted to the investigating agency after a massive protest against Unnao Police, who were allegedly trying to save BJP MLA.

The local police also delayed victim’s medical examination and didn’t send the vaginal swab or her clothes to the forensic laboratory, the CBI probe revealed as per a report by Times of India. Despite survivor’s repeated allegations, Senger and other accused were not mentioned in the FIR by Unnao police, sources said.

“This was all deliberate and in connivance with the accused persons,” A CBI officer said. The female accomplice was also arrested in April and was interrogated by CBI.

The central agency had registered three cases against Sengar in regard to the offence. Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Police had charged him under sections 363 (kidnapping), 366 (abduction of woman), 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and handed over the case to the CBI.
