New Delhi: The weather department has issued another alert on Sunday for the possible storms in next 48 hours. On Wednesday, Uttar Pradesh and other states had witnessed massive destruction after dust and thunderstorms had hit them, leaving behind 73 dead in UP alone.
In total 127 people had died across north and eastern states. The Met department has warned UP and states such as Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi of thunderstorms and gusty winds, reported News18.
In an earlier alert on Friday, the Met department had warned northwest and northeast regions of thunderstorms. It had also warned several states of heavy rainfalls.
The other states, that have been warned of a possible thunderstorm accompanied by squall and hail, are Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Kerala, West Bengal, Sikkim, Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir.
After May 7 and 8 warning, the Haryana government had ordered the closing of all private as well as government schools for two days in the wake of Met department’s warnings.
