New Delhi: After the embarrassing poll debacle in Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has decided to contest the upcoming Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections, which are slated for April 22. It has been speculated that the party could play a crucial role in grabbing the Muslim votes. Earlier the Assaduddin-led AIMIM had decided to field candidates in all 272 seats but after its survey, it decided to put its candidates in 50 seats that have a sizeable Muslim population.
Talking to leading portal, AIMIM Delhi unit President Irfanullah Khan said, “First, we had decided to field candidates on all seats, but when we conducted the survey, we came to know that we are in a strong position on 50 seats. After this, we decided to contest elections in these 50 seats firmly.”
