A 19-year-old woman was attacked with acid by a man in south Delhi’s Sangam Vihar on Wednesday. The police said that the accused, who was in a relationship with the woman, suspected that she was going to get married to someone else.
The victim has been hospitalised at AIIMS trauma centre with burns and is expected to survive, said Romil Baaniya, DCP (South-East).
After the attack, Ravi Kumar, 22, went to the Sangam Vihar police station and confessed his crime. He has been arrested.
He has told the police that he was in a relationship with the victim for sometime and had recently begun to suspect that she was cheating on him.
He also suspected she was getting married to someone else.
At around 10.15am on Wednesday, Ravi carried a bottle of diluted acid and threw it on the victim.
