Allahabad: The war of damaged statues seems to reach a new ‘different level’. The local residents of Kaushambi are planning to file a complaint after the statue of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district was found damaged.
A local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Brajendra Narayan Mishra, had installed PM’s statue in a temple before 2014 parliamentary elections. The incident was noticed when the residents of Bhagwanpur Bahugara village found the broken nose of Modi’s statue. Though the exact cause of damage could not be found out, villagers are suspecting a foul play, reports India.com.
Uma Shankar Yadav, station house officer of Sarai Akil police station told HT that they were not aware of the damage caused to the statue.
In the recent past days, statues of people like Vladimir Lenin, SP Mookerjee, BR Ambedkar, Periyar have been found vandalised in different states across the country. On Wednesday, the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and BR Ambedkar were found defaced in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, respectively.
