Sensex Rises Over 150 Points, Nifty Above 10,500

Indian stock markets started Monday’s session on a positive note, with the BSE benchmark index Sensex rising 180 points and the NSE Nifty trading above the 10,500 mark in morning deals. Gains were led by some buying witnessed in the metals, auto, realty and energy sectors – up between 0.8 per cent and 1.5 per cent. On the Nifty 50, Tata Steel, UPL, Vedanta, Hindalco and Tata Motors were among the top gainers, rising between 1.3 per cent and 1.9 per cent. The rupee rose as much as 64.64 against the US dollar on Monday, compared with Friday’s close of 64.73. In recent trade, the rupee was at 64.65 against the greenback.
