On the eve of Republic Day this year, President Ramnath Kovind honoured the Air Force’s martyr Garuda Commando JP Nirala with Ashok Chakra, the greatest gallantry award of peace. Shaheed Garuda commando JP Nirala was posthumously awarded Ashok Chakra.
President Ram Nath Kovind conferred the award to Nirala’s mother and wife.
Nirala, a resident of Badladih area in Bihar’s Rohtas district, was killed during an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora in November last year.
