New Delhi, Jan 17: More than four lakh posts are lying vacant in the Central government as on March 1, 2016, according to a finance ministry report called Pay and Allowances of Central Government Civilian Employees for 2016-17 said. There is a need to capture jobs on the real-time basis, said Niti Aayog.
The report said that the number of vacancies came down from 6 lakhs as on March 1, 2013, to 4.21 lakh as on March 1, 2014. While the number of vacancies came down in a year, it remained same in subsequent years as it was in 2014, the report suggested.
In the Group A, the total number of vacant posts were 15,284 as on March 1, 2016. While Group B (gazetted) had 26,310 vacancies and 49,740 in group B (non-gazetted), the Group C had 21,418 vacancies.
The report also mentioned that out of 36,33,935 sanctioned posts, the government has taken candidates on 32,21,183 positions while 4,12,752 remains vacant.
