New Delhi, Jan 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a dinner for senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders at his residence on Thursday night. The meeting with senior most functionaries of the saffron party is expected to discuss the upcoming assembly elections and Lok Sabha elections next year.
The Election Commission will conduct polls in Meghalaya, Mizoram, Rajasthan, Tripura, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh this year. The meeting comes days before the Modi government’s last full-fledged budget in the parliament.
Reports suggested that the guest for the dinner include BJP President Amit Shah and general secretaries of the state units. Apart from retaining power in strongholds like Madhya Pradesh and Chhatisgarh for the fourth term, the BJP is also looking increase footprint among the youth.
In order to woo youth voters, estimated to be around 2 crores, the party is planning to launch the “Millennium Vote Campaign” on January 18. Apart from increasing awareness, the party is expecting to increase its vote share. PM Modi, in his Mann Ki Baat address, had highlighted the importance of new voters.
