Delhi Wakes up to Dense Fog on New Year’s Day; Flights, Trains Delayed Due to Low Visibility

New Delhi, Jan 1: Several trains and flights got delayed in Delhi on the New Year’s Day as dense fog engulfed the entire national capital region. Low visibility forced airport authorities to delay five domestic and seven international flights. The operation of the airport was halted when the visibility fell to 50 m. 15 trains were also cancelled due to low visibility, while 56 trains were delayed.

Meanwhile, air quality index didn’t send out good news for the people of Delhi as many areas had high levels of pollution. Delhi’s Shadipur was at 332, Siri Fort at 388 (both ‘Hazardous’), ITO at 182 (Unhealthy), Dwarka at 257 (Very Unhealthy).
