Jaipur, Dec 21: The Rajasthan Government on Thursday approved one percent reservation for members of the Gujjar community and four other backward castes.
Earlier in August, the Vasundhara Raje government decided to raise OBC reservation from 21 to 26 per cent for granting five per cent reservation to Gujjars and four other castes. However this move came under censure of rebel Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) MLA Ghanshyam Tiwari, who said it would be struck down by court.
Tiwari had earlier said that if then proposed bill is challenged and struck down by the court like the previous SBC reservation bill, all the castes under the OBC would suffer.
