Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), is to be mandatorily linked with bank accounts. As a deadline of December 31, 2017 has been set for completing linking of Aadhaar with bank accounts, many lenders including SBI have opened multiple channels to facilitate the same to their customers.
Listed below are some ways SBI customers can link their Aadhaar number with their bank accounts.
SBI Account-Aadhaar Linking Through SBI internet banking
If you are an internet banking user, then you can log into www.onlinesbi.com and access the ‘Link your Aadhaar number’ link under the ‘My Accounts’ section.
Clicking on the link will direct you to a screen where you have to select the account number and input the Aadhaar number. Once done, clock on ‘Submit’ to proceed.
The last two digits of your registered mobile number (non-editable) will be displayed to the customer.
The status of mapping will be advised to the customer’s registered mobile number.
SBI account-Aadhaar Linking Through SBI ATM
SBI also enables its customers to link their Aadhaar with the bank accounts through its ATMs.
After swiping the ATM card and entering the PIN, select ‘Service – Registrations’.
Select Aadhaar registration (or inquiry as per your need).
You can now select the account type after which you will be asked to enter your Aadhaar number. You will be prompted to re-enter the same.
SBI Account-Aadhaar Linking Through SMS service
If your mobile number is registered with the SBI, you can link your Aadhaar with the bank account by sending an SMS (short message service) to 567676 in the following format: UID(space)Aadhaar number(space)Account number
If the mobile number is not registered or in case your Aadhaar number is already linked to account, an SMS reply will be sent to you.
If your mobile number is registered with SBI, you will receive an SMS confirmation of the seeding request.
The Aadhaar number will be verified by SBI with UIDAI. In case it fails verification, an SMS will be sent to you to contact any SBI branch along with Aadhaar number or e-Aadhaar.
SBI Account-Aadhaar Linking Through branch visit
You can visit any SBI branch with a copy of your Aadhaar number or e-aadhaar.
At the branch, a letter of request will be obtained from you along with a xerox copy of Aadhaar letter.
After necessary verification, the linking will be done by the branch. An SMS will be sent to your registered mobile number regarding the status of seeding.
SBI Account-Aadhaar Linking Through mobile app
SBI customers can instantly link their Aadhaar number to their accounts via mobile app SBI Anywhere Personal. This was said by India’s largest bank on microblogging site Twitter.
SBI also shared the following steps to link your Aadhaar number with your bank accounts via SBI Anywhere Personal:
Log in to SBI Anywhere Personal.
Select Aadhaar under ‘Requests’.
