J&K : Srinagar turns white; receives season’s first snowfall

Srinagar turned into white heaven on Tuesday after recording first snowfall of the season.

The summer capital has been recording rainfall since late Monday night after rain during the day, ending long dry spell.

Roof and treetops had turned white as people woke up in the city this morning.

The open fields and parks besides roads were also under white blanket.

However, people, including children, were out to enjoy the snowfall which was going on at the time of filing of this report as the night temperature was above normal though day become cold since yesterday due to rain followed by snow

Meanwhile,the rains in plains and snowfall on higher reaches broke the dry spell and cold wave conditions in Jammu and Kashmir as weatherman predicted wet weather in coming days.

According to Director Meteorological department Srinagar Sonam Lotus, “This will be the first major wet spell during the current season for the state.”

As per MET official there would be significant fall in day temperature and slight rise in night temperature in coming days.
