Jharkhand: Kissing Competition Organised in Tribal Fair, BJP Demands Action Against Two JMM MLAs

New Delhi, Dec 12: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded the resignation of two Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MLAs from the state assembly for reportedly organising a kissing competition for tribal couples during a fair in Pakur. JMM MLA from Littipara, Simon Marandi, who was one of the organisers, said that the competition was held to bring down the number of divorces in tribals. Another JMM legislature Stephen Marandi was also in attendance at the controversial event.

As the event turned into a controversy, the BJP has demanded that the two MLAs be suspended from Jharkhand Assembly. Hemlal Murmu, BJP’s vice president of Jharkhand unit, said that the two MLAs insulted the culture of  Santhal Pargana.
