BJP MP Nanabhau Patole Quits Party, Lok Sabha Over Agrarian Distress

Mumbai, Dec 8: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Nanabhau Falgunrao Patole resigned from the Lok Sabha and the party on Friday after expressing his displeasure over the party’s stand on the agrarian crisis in Maharashtra. Nanabhau Falgunrao Patole, who represents the Bhandara-Gondiya parliamentary constituency of eastern Maharashtra in the Lok Sabha, submitted his resignation to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.

His resignation comes just a few hours before Gujarat votes in the first phase of Assembly elections on December 9. There had been reports that Patole would bid goodbye to the BJP by December end after he took on the leadership for not doing enough to help the farmers who were in acute distress due to failure of crops, high loans, low yield and remuneration.
