New Delhi, November 30: State-run telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has revised its affordable Rs 187 recharge plan to counter Reliance Jio’s disruptive offers. Under the revised Rs 187 plan, subscribers will now be eligible to get unlimited local and STD voice calls along with 1GB data. The plan also offers free caller tune for 28 days. BSNL’s Rs 187 plan is a direct competition to Rs 199 plan from Airtel and Rs 197 plan from Idea Cellular. It is advisable for users to check before recharging as the plan could vary in different circles.
Before its revision, the same plan offered unlimited voice calling in a subscriber’s home circle. Moreover, users were charged as per their base plan when placing calls to Delhi and Mumbai region as BSNL doesn’t have operations in these two metro cities. But with the revised plan, subscribers won’t be charged for the voice calls they make to other circles. This means users can enjoy unlimited voice calling to any circle where BSNL has its operations.
According to a report by Telecomtalk, BSNL introduced this plan on October 21, 2017, citing it as a promotional plan for 90 days. The report further adds that BSNL is offering this plan at Rs 186 in Tamil Nadu and is valid from October 21, 2017, to January 18, 2018 in the southern state.
