Top athletes to get monthly stipend of Rs 50,000

NEW DELHI: Elite athletes preparing for Tokyo Olympics, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games will receive a stipend of Rs 50,000 per month to meet their pocket expenses, Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore announced today.

Rathore’s announcement meant that the sports ministry has accepted the recommendation of the Olympic Task Force, headed by Abhinav Bindra, in this regard.

The Government has selected 152 elite athletes under the Target Olympic Podium scheme. All the athletes will get benefit from this decision. The stipend will be paid with effect from September 1.

“MYAS @IndiaSports announces Rs 50k/month pocket allowance for 152 elite athletes preparing for Tokyo/CWG/Asian Games. Athletes first, always!” Rathore wrote on the official Twitter handle.

“The allowance applies wef 1 Sep 2017 & is purely for pocket expenses of elite athletes. Committed to providing all resources to our champions.”

The Sports Ministry was getting in touch with all the athletes selected under the TOP scheme to get training and competition exposure plan and any further assistance required for preparation of the prestigious competitions.

Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Journey to Cost Rs 3,000

Ahmedabad, September 14: The fare of the journey between Mumbai and Ahmedabad of High-Speed Bullet Train is expected to cost Passengers between Rs 2700 to Rs 3000, reported Zee News. The ambitious project is likely to cost more than Rs. one lakh crores in five years.

After the laying stone of High-Speed Bullet Train, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the project will take five years for its completion. The project will be built with joint funding of India and Japan. Japan will provide a loan of Rs. Eighty-Eight Thousand Crore at the interest of 0.1 Percent per annum.

The Prime Minister said that this high-speed railway would not only bring two cities closer but also bring the people living hundreds of kilometres away, closer to each other. He said a new economic system is being developed along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor, and the entire area would become a single economic zone.

The Prime Minister said technology is useful only if it provides benefit to the common man. He said the technology transfer envisaged in this project will benefit Indian Railways, and boost the “Make in India” initiative. He said the project would be eco-friendly as well as human-friendly. He said “high-speed corridors” would be regions for rapid growth in the future.

Markets Trade Flat, Sensex at 32,262, Nifty Above 10,000

Mumbai, September 14: Key Indian equity indices-BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty opened in green on Thursday. Sensex was up by over 64 Points or 0.20% at 32,250.50 while the broader NSE Nifty was up by over 21 points or 0.21% at 10,100.40. On Wednesday, both Sensex and Nifty settled almost at their previous level after early gains were offset by fag-end weakness amid uninterrupted capital outflows by foreign funds. As per reports by PTI, sentiment took a dramatic turn downwards, particularly in the last one hour of trading, given a lower opening in European markets for taking profit.

#Sensex up by 82 Points to 32,241, #Nifty Above 10,000

Mumbai, September 13: Benchmark BSE Sensex opened in red on Wednesday while NSE Nifty opened in green during early morning trade. Sensex was down by over 5 points or 0.02% at 32,152.86 while NSE Nifty was up by just 1 point or 0.01%  at 10,094.10. Soon after, the key Indian equity indices started trading in red during early morning trade on Wednesday. The major gainers in BSE Sensex during the early morning trade were M&M, TCS, Tata Motors and Adani Ports while the major losers in BSE Sensex were HDFC, Cipla, ITC and LT.

Sensex Closes 194 Points up at 31,882, Nifty Ends Above 10,000

Mumbai, September 11: Key Indian equity indices- BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty opened in green on Monday after a volatile trading last week amid deepening worries over North Korea. Sensex zoomed 174 points or 0.55% at 31,862.05 while the broader Nifty was up by over 48 points or 0.48% at 9,982.20. The major gainers in BSE Sensex on Monday during early morning trade were LT, Dr Reddy, Adani Ports and Sun Pharma amongst the others. Similarly, the losers during early morning trade were TCS, ITC, Kotak Bank and Power Grid.
