Police seeks DoT’s help to solve mystery of calls from 15-digit numbers

Delhi Police PCR unit is receiving over 600 calls daily from "mysterious 15-digit" phone numbers, and it has now approached Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to trace their origin and suggest ways to deal with the situation. "A mobile number contains 10 digits while a landline number contains eight digits. But in the last couple of weeks, we have been receving calls from 15-digit numbers. When our officers pick up the calls, there is no response from the other end," said a senior police officer.

Can a spouse be held guilty for contempt if he or she has second thoughts about going for divorce by mutual consent after agreeing before a court to take that step, is a question referred by a Delhi High Court judge to a larger bench. Voicing concern over the contradictory views taken earlier in rulings, Justice Manmohan expressed "serious doubts" on the practice of the courts hauling up spouses for contempt if they renege from their earlier stand of divorce by mutual consent during the six-month interval period.

Rohith Vemula death anniversary: InUth journalists, students roughed up as police crack down on Insaaf March

Two journalists working for InUth.com, a youth site of the Indian Express group, were roughed up by the police as they covered a protest march at Mandi House to mark the first death anniversary of Rohith Vemula. The All India Students Association (AISA) had organised protest marches in Delhi and Kolkata. Rohit Vemula, a PhD student at Hyderabad University, had ended his life alleging victimisation by the varsity authorities.
