• Union Minister Vijay Goel conducts Mohalla Sabha in Chandni Chowk to seek public opinion on Kejriwal splurging taxpayers’ money on legal bills

• Another Mohalla Sabha will be conducted on 06 April at 12pm near Gate No.1 of Palika Bazar in Connaught Place

05 April, New Delhi – Union Minister Vijay Goel today conducted a Mohalla Sabha in Chandni Chowk to seek public opinion on Kejriwal splurging taxpayers’ money on legal bills. Recently media had exposed Kejriwal’s legal bills and expenditure to hire Ram Jethmalani against the defamation case against Union Minister Arun Jaitley.

During the Mohalla Sabha forms were distributed to the audience asking queries whether the hard-earned money of taxpayers should be spent on hiring lawyers for as exorbitant as Rs.1 crore. Around 2000 people were distributed these opinion forms.

Goel said that the public mood was unanimous and they all felt cheated that their tax was being splurged by Kejriwal to defend his image. “On one hand Kejriwal promises people free water, electricity etc. but on the other hand he blows up the taxpayers money to safeguard his image by legal means which is costing nearly 4 crores as per media reports”, Goel said.

Goel also posted a Twitter Poll asking people whether Kejriwal had cheated people, a whopping 91% said Yes. Goel stated that similar Opinion Polls on ground would be held. Organisers of today’s Mohalla Sabha Sh. Achal Sharma and Deeepak Jain said they will conduct yet another similar Sabha tomorrow at Palika Bazar’s Gate No.1 in Delhi’s Connaught Place.

7th Pay Commission: Arrears on higher allowances for Central Government employees

7th Pay Commission: Arrears on higher allowances for Central Government employees will create no additional burden on exchequer, says NJCA

New Delhi, April 5: Central Government employees are eagerly awaiting the hike in allowances as per the 7th Pay Commission. The National Joint Council of Action (NJCA), which is leading the negotiation on behalf of employees, has demanded the Centre to implement higher allowances along with arrears from January 2016. Centre is yet to confirm whether the allowance would be hiked with retrospective effect, considering its impact on the exchequer. However, the NJCA argues that arrears would create no additional burden on the Government.

NJCA convenor Shiv Gopal Mishra, while speaking to India.com, recalled the allocation of 1,02,100 crore in the Budget 2016-17. Out of the stated amount, Centre was slated to spent Rs 84,933 crore in the past fiscal to implement the 7th Pay Commission.

“Government had allocated Rs 1 lakh, two thousand crores for implementation of 7th Pay Commission. That amount has not been completely spent. Even if they will provide us arrears on allowances from January 1, 2016, I believe the cost would not exceed beyond the amount allocated,” Mishra said. No confirmation on higher allowances with arrears from January 2016, says NJCA

#MCDElections2017: Meet the #BJP IT Cell fighting polls online

The Bharatiya Janata Party is all out to woo voters ahead of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi Elections in the national capital. Since 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP has aggressively used the social media to spread its campaign and reach out to masses. The same strategy is being used in the upcoming MCD elections. Apart from the main IT cell that sits in the Delhi BJP office at Pandit Pant Marg, there are hundreds of volunteers helping the party push its agenda in the polls.

Delhi is divided into 14 districts and each district has a Zilla team and a mandal team. Every Zilla and mandal team has three to four members. And the central team has a strength of 20-25 people. “The team is divided into graphic designing, video editing, content developing and social media,” said Kunal Kapur, one of the core team members. There are nearly 500 office bearers attached with the IT cell and rest are volunteers. “There is a generic planning of the next day agenda and then there is a reaction if there is a major political development. But every information has to be checked and authenticated,” Kapur said.

The planning and structuring of the team began in 2015 itself and people were being trained to use the social media. “The social media is a 24-hour thing and the core team members are available all the time,” said Abhishek Sharma, a core team member. Weekly meetings are being held between state and Zilla for the smooth flow of work. And, there are hundreds of WhatsApp groups to pass the message as well.

On the question of what will go on the social media, Kapur said, “In 99 per cent cases, we avoid playing the negative news. Our focus is on the developmental work done by the MCD in the last 10 years. We would want to wait if there is a negative news rather than play it up for the sake of playing it on social media.”
When asked how they work on trends, Kapur said, “We look at what people are saying and their mood and accordingly decide our trending hashtag and work on it.”

How the BJP IT cell works

Once the agenda of the day is decided, the team starts working on it by making graphics, videos, developing content. It is then passed on to Zilla teams and mandal teams.

The same is being forwarded to various WhatsApp groups setting the agenda of the day. The volunteers and office bearers then spread the message to their areas of influence.

Core team members

There are six members in the core team of the BJP IT Cell for the MCD elections who work round the clock. They are:
Sumit Bhasin, the head of the team: He has done PhD in Satellite Communication
Abhishek Sharma: He has done MBA in marketing
Subodh Kumar: He is an MBA from IIM Bangalore
Nikhil: He is an electronic engineer
Dhruv: He has completed his graduation and is preparing for GMAT
Kunal Kapur: He has done MBA in HR from ENPC, Paris
The IT cell is also planning to do Facebook live and Twitter chats with the state party chief, Delhi Lok Sabha MPs and many senior ministers ahead of the April 23 election.

Ram Jethmalani’s out-of-court defence of #ArvindKejriwal cannot undo the damage

Ram Jethmalani’s out-of-court defence of Arvind Kejriwal cannot undo the damage, controversy may hit AAP’s chances in MCD polls

India’s highest-paid legal counsel, Ram Jethmalani presented a robust defence of his illustrious client, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday. The veteran lawyer was seen fire-fighting for the AAP convenor. He seconded the AAP’s top order, saying Kejriwal was sued by Arun Jaitley as Delhi CM, hence, he was not in the wrong. He told a news channel that Arvind Kejriwal duly sent the Rs 3.8 crore bill for approval and didn’t keep the money for himself. Calling the AAP a poor party, he announced that he would give his legal services to the Delhi CM on a pro bono basis. However, with all his experience as a lawyer, Jethmalani’s out-of-court defence will not save Arvind Kejriwal from loss of face, which might hamper his party’s chances in the upcoming MCD polls.

Before becoming the chief minister of the state, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was particularly critical of wasting public money by MLAs of other political parties. He championed austerity. He refused official bungalow, the security cover, and even an official car. A few days into the office, practicality dawned on the mercurial leader. When reality struck the leader he realised how difficult it was to operate without these perks. He discovered they were essentialities, not perks, and were very much needed for effective discharge of official duties. In the second term, however, Kejriwal didn’t make such high-flying promises of absolute austerity and silently accepted the official bungalow and security cover. He even ordered a massive hike in the salaries of MLAs. All these things are acceptable, but passing personal legal bills as governmental expenditure is not. With Ram Jethmalani showing his magnanimity, no damage to the state exchequer has been done. But this cannot be said about Arvind Kejriwal’s spotless image as it has definitely taken a hit.
