New Delhi: Demanding that land and real estate be brought within the ambit of GST, Delhi finance minister Manish Sisodia on Thursday said that its taxation slab be kept at lower ceilings for vast majority of consumer durables to make it a mass-friendly taxation. Mr Sisodia, who is also Delhi’s deputy chief minister, observed that future generations would suffer its pain if land and real estate remained outside the purview of Goods and Services Tax. GoAir flight emergency landing: Teens spot plane fire, alert saves 194 lives

THE ALERTNESS of two teenagers of Goyla Dairy village in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka saved the lives of 194 people onboard a Bengaluru-bound GoAir flight on Wednesday, after they spotted fire and smoke from the tail of the aircraft and alerted the Delhi Police Control Room. Delhi Police are investigating a case where an 18-year-old student was shot in the abdomen in northeast Delhi’s Jaffrabad area on January 29. While police said it is not yet clear who shot him or how it happened, his family claimed he "accidentally" shot himself with a country-made pistol. Police said the gun is yet to be recovered. According to police, a case under the Arms Act and IPC Section 337 was filed at Jaffrabad police station as the boy, Sameer, claimed he did not know how he was shot. The move comes after roof of a vacant shop on top of Jain Book Depot in Connaught Place’s C-Block had collapsed last week, raising questions about the structural stability of other buildings in the iconic market.
