South Korea likely to redevelop New Delhi railway station as world class facility

South Korea has come forward to redevelop the New Delhi railway station, one of the busiest terminals in the country, as a world-class facility. Catering to more than five lakh passengers in a day, the station will be converted into a swanky complex at an estimated cost of Rs 10,000 crore, offering best facilities and shopping experience to travellers, according to an ambitious plan unveiled by the railways. Besides the multi-storey station building with separate sections for departures and arrivals, there is a provision for three skyscrapers for commercial use at the Ajmeri Gate side of the station which handles 361 trains a day.

State EC asks Delhi High Court to dismiss plea to remove party symbols from EVMs

The Delhi state election commission has sought dismissal of a plea for removal of candidates’ party symbols from electronic voting machines (EVM) in upcoming civic polls in New Delhi. "(Any order on) the petition would directly affect all the national and state political parties. Since all the national and state political parties have not been impleaded in the present petition, it is liable to be dismissed on this ground alone," the poll panel told a bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Sangita Dhingra Sehgal.

#Delhi government asks departments to update websites regularly

The Delhi government has directed all its departments to update official websites on a regular basis, a move intended to provide updated information about the government’s works to Delhiites. The Information Technology Department has issued a circular to all department heads, principal secretaries and secretaries, following complaints that most departments were not updating content. As per the circular, "old and irrelevant" information should be removed from the departments’ websites. The matter was also discussed at a recent meeting of department heads with the Chief Secretary.
