#Nifty Surges to Record High of 10,154; #Sensex Gains 180 Points in Opening Trade

Mumbai, September 18: The market opened on a high note on Monday with Nifty surging to record high of 10,154.35. BSE Sensex gained 180.15 points to trade at 32,452.76 in the opening session.

The rally came on the back of buying in capital goods, auto, power, PSU and banking stocks, rising by up to 1.44 per cent.

Companies leading to Nifty’s gains were L&T, Bharti Infratel, HDFC Bank and Tata Motors. Sun Pharma, Adani Ports, Dr Reddy’s Labs and ONGC were only losers among Nifty50 stocks, according to MoneyControl.

The 30-share Sensex too was in bullish form, rising 235.45 points, or 0.72 per cent, at 32,508.06. The gauge had gained 610.64 points in the previous seven sessions.

Meanwhile, consumer electronics manufacturer Dixon Technologies made a strong debut as the stock opened at Rs 2,725, up 54 per cent over its issue price of Rs 1,766.

Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 125.55 crore while foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought equities of Rs 418.86 crore on Friday, showed provisional data. Continued buying by DIIs and fresh fund inflows by foreign investors, which had been on selling spree, bolstered the trading sentiment, traders said.
