Error in Aadhaar-PAN Linking? Know How to Fix it Online

New Delhi, September 4: To facilitate ease of compliance by the taxpayers, Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the date for linking Aadhaar with PAN has been extended till 31st December 2017. The earlier deadline to link Aadhaar with PAN was by 31st August 2017. With this move, if individuals haven’t been able to link the two important identification documents, they get four months to do it. The move comes at a time when the government has granted a similar extension for the furnishing of Aadhaar for availing the benefits of various social welfare schemes.

The CBDT has also extended the ‘due-date’ for filing Income Tax Returns and various reports of audit prescribed under the Income-tax Act,1961, from September 30, 2017 to October 31, 2017 for all taxpayers who were liable to file their Income Tax Returns by September 30, 2017. In case if you were not able to link the two cards due to errors, you can do it now without wasting much of your time.

How you can correct your Aadhaar errors online:

  • Step 1: Visit the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) website https://uidai.gov.in/
  • Step 2: Choose the “Update Aadhaar Details (Online)” option that is below the Aadhaar Update section after which the user will then be redirected to the Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal.
  • Step 3: Enter your Aadhaar number and carry on with the authentication process. Once every detail is filled, you will get an OTP on your mobile. (The mobile number has to be a registered one)
  • Step 4: Then enter the data updating request page and submit your Aadhaar card name change/ correction/ surname change and click submit.
