Mumbai: Sex Racket Busted in Hotel in Kalyan, 4 Women Rescued; Six People Arrested

Mumbai, August 17: Six persons were arrested in Kalyan as the anti-human trafficking cell of Thane police busted a sex racket that was operational at Relax Hotel and Garden in Kalyan on Wednesday. Reportedly, four women have also been rescued from the hotel, out of them one is from Bangladesh.

One of the police officials told the Times of India, “After getting the information about the racket, we went to the spot. A police officer, pretending to be a customer, went inside the bar and asked for a girl, on which the bar staff agreed and provided one girl along with a room inside the hotel. Following which, the officer immediately informed us and we raided the place and arrested the staff members”.

The people have arrested bar manager Harishchandra Shetty (57), cashier Rahul Dutt, and waiters Satyanarayan Pal (42), Ramakanat Mahant (28), Vijay Shetty and Vigyan Shamal (35). These accused will be sent to police custody for three days. The Thane police informed that the woman who is from Bangladesh carried a valid passport and visa and they will question the hotel owner to figure out if she was involved in the flesh trade.
