Old currency worth 1 Crore recovered in UP, 3 arrested

Uttar Pradesh: Lucknow police have recovered old currency worth Rs 1 crore from three people carrying in a car during the inspection in Gomatinagar. Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Singh said Thursday night old notes of one crore seized from a car during checking at the check post. All the notes recovered are of one thousand.

Car’s passenger Himanshu Gupta, Tariq Qadir, and Nirbhaya Madeshiya have been arrested in this case. Meanwhile, the car driver escaped from the spot.

Two shopkeepers and a lawyer arrested by police, the Income Tax Department officials have been informed about the case. The police are investigating the matter. It may be recalled that even earlier, the old Lucknow Police had earlier recovered around 70 lakh of old notes during checking.
