SRM organised 5th International Conference on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology ICONN- 2019

5th International conference on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology ICONN-2019 was prearranged by SRM Institute of Science and Technology at their Dr. T P Ganesan Auditorium from 28th – 30th January 2019 with an objective to provide a platform to discuss and interact with young and dynamic researchers sharing their experience, innovative ideas and the challenges in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology.

ICONN is biennial International Conference organized by Department of Physics and Nanotechnology, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, for researchers across the world working in the field of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Incepted in 2010, the conference became an important event in the calendar for scientists, academicians, researchers, industrialists and students to showcase their latest and significant contributions in the in the field of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology.

This year ICONN2019 comprised of 5 parallel sessions totaling 40 individual sessions. 1 key note lecture, 13 Plenary lectures, 76 invited lectures were delivered by leading experts from 19 countries around the world. In addition, 152 contributory Lectures and 1543 posters presentations were made. All the technical sessions were ably chaired by the invitees of ICONN 2019. To honor the senior and young researchers, Prof. Yasuhiro Hayakawa, Shizuoka University, Japan, was conferred the "Life Time achievement award for Research Promotion " and ICONN-2019-Young Researcher Award to Dr. K. D. Mallikarjuna Rao, IACS, Kolkatta and ICONN-2019 Outstanding Women Researcher Award to " Dr.C. Nithya, NIT, Tiruchirapalli

On this occassion Dr. C. Preferencial Kala, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Physics & Nanotechnology , SRM Institute said “ Hosting this conference is an effort from our side to create a common platform to discuss and review the path breaking research ideas and to motivate the young talent to get into the interface of science, industry and societal needs. I feel extremely privileged that different countries came forward to participate and share their perspective during the conference.”

ICONN 2019 was successfully conducted in association with Shizuoka University-Japan and NCTU-Taiwan, GNS-New Zealand, ACCMS, CSIR- NPL-India and IET. It also provided the experts and young researchers an opportunity to explore collaborative opportunities.
