PM pays glowing tributes to former PM, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee jee on unveiling of his portrait in parliament

Says, Atal jee was a communicator par excellence who always raised voice of the people

A portrait of former Prime Minister, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee was unveiled at the Central Hall of Parliament today by the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind.

Vice President, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Speaker Lok Sabha, Smt. Sumitra Mahajan and several other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid glowing tributes to Atal Behari Vajpayee jee and said, he will be forever in the Parliament’s Central Hall, inspiring and blessing us. Remembering his versatility, values for humanity and affection for the people, PM said it will take hours and hours to talk about the goodness of Atal Ji.

PM stated that the Atal Behari Vajpayee jee spent a large part of his political career in opposition but continued raising issues of public interest and never deviated from his ideology.

Describing Shri Atal Ji’s communication skills as unparalleled, PM said he had a great sense of humour also.

Prime Minister said that Vajpayee jee’s silence was as powerful as his speeches. “When to speak and when to keep quiet was his extraordinary quality”, he added.

About the legacy of Atal Behari Vajpayee jee, PM said we can take away a key message from him that in democracy there are no enemies but political rivals only.
