Delhi air pollution over 20 times the safe limit ahead of Diwali

Ahead of Diwali, on Monday morning Delhi’s PM2.5 level was over 20 times the safe limit prescribed by WHO, according to data from the Delhi Pollution Control Board. The overall Air Quality Index (AQI) on Monday was recorded at 342, which falls in the "very poor" category. PM2.5 are fine particles that can penetrate the lungs and cause respiratory diseases.
