Rahi Sarnobat shoots gold in Women’s 25m Pistol with Asian Games record

Rahi Sarnobat claimed India’s second gold medal in shooting at the Asian Games 2018 as she won the top prize in Women’s 25m Pistol after two rounds of shoot-off on Wednesday. She became the first Indian shooter to win an Asiad Games gold medal.

Sarnobat shot an Asian Games record score of 34 and although Thailand’s Naphaswan Yangpaiboon provided tough challenge to the Indian shooter, she was able to clinch the title after two rounds of shoot-off. Sarnobat is a veteran of the sport and the 27-year old won bronze in the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon.

In the Commonwealth Games, she has won three medals till date – gold (2010, 2014) and silver (2010). When it comes to shooting at the Asian Games 2018, India has been a force to be reckoned with and Day 4 was nothing different. Manu Bhaker confirmed her spot in the 25m Pistol final with a Games record score of 593 while Rahi Sarnobat finished seventh with the score of 580.
