Will justice Ranjan Gogoi succeed Chief Justice Dipak Mishra on October 2? Now the ball is in the court of CJI Justice Dipak Mishra. The government has made it clear “as far as next CJI is concerned, the convention is clear.The sitting CJI would forward the name of is successor. When the name does comes to us, we would discuss it. But there is no reason to doubt our intention.” It means appointment of new CJI depends on the recommendation of CJI. Will he recommend name of justice Gogoi or justice Sikiri ?
