International Yoga day to get Satellite Imagery

The department of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) has written a letter to the Indian Space Research Organization seeking its help in providing satellite imagery on the International yoga day to be held on June 21, 2018. The department feels, this could be used in compounding the total number of people participated.

“We have written to the ISRO chief and asked him if he could help us in mapping the event participation between 7 am and 8 am from across the country using their satellite, He is yet to formally respond to our request but he has given us in-principle approval” special secretary of Ayush, Rajesh Kotecha said.

It was estimated that 7.5Crore people took part in the event last year at various events conducted across India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is due to attend this year’s event at Dehradun.
