MCD Elections 2017: Arvind Kejriwal pays back to those who helped him; rewards party tickets

New Delhi, March 26: Ahead of the MCD Elections 2017 in Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party rewarded two persons with the tickets who helped the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in his struggling days. The party has decided to field Harjeet Singh in Rajouri Garden by-polls for the Delhi assembly. The seat fell vacant after the Aam Aadmi Party legislator Jarnail Singh resigned from the seat to contest the Lambi seat against former chief minister Prakash Singh Badal in Punjab assembly elections. However, he was defeated by the veteran politician in recently concluded elections.
Harjeet Singh had offered his residence 41, Hanuman Road to the party in initial days for campaigning in Delhi assembly elections in 2013. The accommodation was cited by Arvind Kejriwal in his nomination for the assembly elections. Arvind Kejriwal used to live in government allotted accommodation to his wife in Kaushambi in Ghaziabad. However, the central Delhi office was vacated sooner as it failed to address the growing number of meetings and other party related activities. The office was later moved to East Patel Nagar. The party insiders say that Harjeet Singh charged nothing from the ruling party for using its premises.
Similarly, the Aam Aadmi Party has given the ticket to Naren Jain to contest the Chandni Chowk ward in North Delhi Municipal Corporation. Naren Jain came to the rescue of Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal when he had to resign from the office of Chief Minister of Delhi in 2013. He was looking after a house which could easily serve to party related activities. The offer by Naren Jain to use his house 4B Flagstaff road at Alipur Road was accepted by Arvind Kejriwal. However, he had to drop the plan as Naren Jain’s elder brother termed the residence ‘disputed’ and threatened to move to the court.
