#MCDElections2017: Officials plaster Arvind Kejriwal’s photos on Delhi government schemes; remove ‘Aam Aadmi’

New Delhi, Mar 25: In a major setback to Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the photos of the Delhi chief minister are being covered along with the word “Aam Aadmi” from the Delhi government-run schemes on display ahead of the Delhi MCD Elections 2017. The order was given by the the Delhi State Election Commission in which it had asked the Aam Aadmi Party to get rid of the word “Aam” from the various schemes which are visible in the city as it was violating Model Code of Conduct.

Some officials went to such an extent that they covered even “Aadmi” and also plastered Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s face on the posters of the schemes along with “Aadmi” which were not part of the order by the State Election Commission.

Ahead of the April 23 municipal elections in the national capital, the Delhi State Election Commission had asked the Delhi government to remove the word “Aam” from all forms of display of its schemes in the capital. SK Srivastava, State Election Commissioner, was quoted by Financial Express, saying that they have asked AAP and three MCD commissioners to submit a report of acceptance regarding this.
