Bhopal Gas Tragedy: 33 Years on, Victims Still Await Justice

New Delhi, Dec 3: Its been 33 years since Bhopal faced the worst industrial disaster, but the survivors are still struggling to get justice. The victims of 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy are still complaining of not being provided with proper medical facilities, better living conditions and employment.

Born after the 1984 disaster, Bhopal’s third generation is also suffering from ailments. Apart from that, the toxic waste lying in the defunct Union Carbide is yet to be disposed off. As per the reports of ANI, there are many children in the state who cannot sit or speak or hear, while many women are not able to conceive again.

Speaking to the news agency, a victim while narrating his ordeal said,”It is 33 years since the gas tragedy took place but we are still facing problems. We haven’t even received any kind of facilities from the government. The ministers in Bhopal do not care about us. They are busy in having fun.”

“Besides giving an ex-gratia of Rs 25, 000 we were not given anything. We are not even provided treatment in hospitals,” said another victim.
