Closely Monitor Progress in Rural Areas, PM Tells Officials in Review Meeting

New Delhi, Nov 18: Taking stock of progress in rural India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday directed officials to monitor rural roads and ensure quick response and solution to the complaints received through ‘Meri Sadak’ application. “The positive impact of housing on the lives of the beneficiaries should be suitably examined, and the focus should be on improving their quality of life,” said Prime Minister Modi. The review meeting was attended by top officials from PMO, NITI Aayog, and infrastructure ministries of the government, a statement from the PMO said.

The agenda of the review meeting, which lasted for about two-and-a-half-hours, also included rural housing, rural roads, coal, mining and rural electrification. “Officials said progress is being made towards connecting remaining unconnected habitations within a time-frame. The PM observed that resources available for this work should be used optimally throughout the year,” the official statement said.

The statement said that PM Modi hoped that an advancement of the budget will result in further improvement in performance.
