Prime Time with Ravish: Journalist expresses concern after BJP MP, MLA thrash each other

New Delhi: In Prime Time with Ravish, the journalist, Mr. Ravish Kumar exposed the mindset of the political leaders. He said that BJP must take strict disciplinary action over the incident in which BJP MLA and MP thrashed each other. He also said if BJP fails to take action, such incidents will become a trend.

It may be mentioned that at an official meeting in Sant Kabir Nagar on Wednesday, BJP MP Sharad Tripathi and party’s Uttar Pradesh MLA Rakesh Singh Baghel thrashed each other.

During the meeting of the District Action Plan Committee at the Collectorate, the two lawmakers first engaged in a verbal duel over the placement of names, in terms of hierarchy, on a foundation stone of some development project. Soon after, Tripathi took out his shoe and started thrashing the MLA.

Baghel retaliated and beat up the MP.

Other participants of the meeting intervened and separated the two lawmakers.

Controversy over Rafale Deal

On Wednesday, the Government told the Supreme Court that certain documents pertaining to the Rafale fighter jets deal were stolen from the Defence Ministry and a probe has been initiated into the matter.

Reacting on the statement made in SC, Mr. Ravish Kumar expressed concerns that Govt. lost a file which it claimed to be a ‘secret’ one.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court adjourned the hearing in the Rafale fighter jets deal case till March 14, after the government said that certain documents pertaining to the deal were stolen from the Defence Ministry.

The apex court was hearing on petitions seeking review of its December 14, 2018 verdict that had dismissed pleas challenging the deal between India and France for procurement of 36 Rafale fighter jets.

A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi and comprising Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice KM Joseph heard the matter.

During the hearing, Chief Justice Gogoi said, ‘Primary question is that should the court not look into the evidence or the document if there is relevance or corruption?’

Attorney General KK Venugopal said, ‘It should not be looked into as it deals with Defence and secrets.’
