DEPwD to Organize “National Workshop on Skill Development for PwDs” Tomorrow

Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is organizing a “National Workshop on Skill Development for Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan)” here tomorrow. The workshop is being organized with a view to provide a platform to all stakeholders ranging from training partners to the policy makers as well as employers.

Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment will inaugurate the workshop and Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will be the Guest of Honour. Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar, MoS for M/o SJ&E will address at the workshop. Representatives from Corporate Sectors (both in Private and Public), State Governments and Empanelled Training Centres of DEPwD will participate in the day long workshop.

The Workshop will dwell upon all the issues involved in the skill development for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and will come out with workable solution in identifying core areas for skill development in the context of PwDs, mechanism for appropriate mapping of categories of Disabilities viz. a viz. industrial requirement and also promoting positive attitude in the private sector to consider PwDs as one of their valuable workforce.

The workshop will have 5 Sessions:

  1. Inaugural Session– To be attended by the Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment; Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship; and Minister of State for SJ&E.
  2. Session I – Topic: Skill Mapping Viz. a Viz. Categories of PwD – Presentation and Panel Discussion by Directors of National Institutes, Representatives from MSDE & NSDC.
  3. Session II – Topic: Placement Opportunities in Private/Public Sector including Mechanism to regulate Post Training Placement – Presentation and Panel Discussion by Representatives from Industry Body, PSUs & Leading Private Sector Companies.
  4. Session III – Topic: Skill Mapping Viz. a Viz. Categories of PwD – Presentation and Panel Discussion by ETPs and Skill Council for Persons with Disabilities.
  5. Interactive Session –  Questions and Replies/Summing Up.

Election Commission of India to hold a National Consultation on Accessible Elections

A dedicated portal of the ECI’S Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) to be launched

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has organized a two-day “National Consultation on Accessible Elections,” from the 3rd July, 2018 in New Delhi.  It will be inaugurated by the Chief Election Commissioner Shri O.P.Rawat, in presence of the Election Commissioners Shri Sunil Arora and Shri Ashok Lavasa. The event is a part of the ECI’s pursuit of its mission ‘leave no voter behind,’ with special focus on “Persons with Disabilities” (PwD). During the inaugural session, a dedicated portal for the ECI’s ‘Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation’ (SVEEP) initiative will also be launched.

The national consultation  will be participated among others by the Chief Electoral Officers of all states, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) working in the area of empowerment of the differently abled and senior officials of the Union Ministries of Social Justice & Empowerment, Information & Broadcasting, Electronics and Information Technology, Youth Affairs and Sports, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Central Public Works Department and the National Literacy Mission Authority.

The national event is the culmination of a nearly three-month long series of district and state level consultations. They are aimed at identifying the barriers or gaps in the inclusion of PwD’s in the electoral process, to assess the existing accessibility initiatives and to find solutions for the challenges being faced by the PwD’s.  The whole exercise is to enhance their participation in the forthcoming state and Lok Sabha elections.

The theme of “Inclusion of PwD’s” has been given a special focus in the ECI’s Strategic Plan 2016-2025. Besides, “Accessible Elections” has been adopted as its central theme for this year’s National Voters’ Day celebrations.

The “National Consultation on Accessible Elections,” will be having three technical sessions over the course of the two days. The best practices on ‘Accessible Elections’ that were practiced in six states during their last Assembly Elections will be shared in the meeting.

The national consultation meet is expected to contribute significantly to evolve a policy on “Accessible Elections,” that will help in making electoral processes more and more accessible in the ensuing elections.

The concluding session of the national consultation in the afternoon on 4th July, 2018 will also be graced by the CEC and the EC’s.

Ranbir Beats Salman Race 3 Rajini Kaala

Ranbir Kapoor’s latest outing Sanju is going great guns at the box office. the film opened in theatres on June 29. Within no time, Sanju has achieved two milestones-joining the Rs 50 Cr and Rs 100 Cr club at the box office. The film is racing towards touching the Rs 150 Cr milestone at the domestic box office while it is inching towards $2 million at the overseas box office. Sanju has become the first blockbuster hit in the second quarter of 2018. The film has turned out to the highest opener in Ranbir’s career.

With each passing day, Sanju is reaching setting a new benchmark at the box office. It is worth mentioning here that Sanju has dethroned top five opening weekend collections of 2018 at Australia box office. It is worth mentioning here that Sanju has bagged the second spot among top five films in the list. Sanju has surpassed Salman Khan’s Kaala, Rajinikanth’s Kaala and his sister Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Veeri Di Wedding which is a huge feat for Ranbir Kapoor. But, Sanju failed to beat Padmaavat collections at the Australian box office. Yet, It is celebration time for fans.
