UBM India, the largest organizer of jewellery fairs in India, announced the launch of its premium international B2B jewellery fair in South India – the Chennai Jewellery & Gem Fair (CJGF) today. It is scheduled to be held between 19th – 21st October, 2018 at the Chennai Trade Centre. The expo will be well-supported by the prominent jewellery association — Chennai Jewellers Association and is anticipating to attract 200+ exhibitors and over 1,000 luxurious jewellery brands.
The announcement was held at Taj Coromandel in the presence of key dignitaries, Mr. Yogesh Shah, Director, Chennai Jewellers Association; Mr. Uday Vummidi, Director,Chennai Jewellers Association; Mr. Sultan Mohideen, Director, Chennai Jewellers Association; Mr. Jitendra Vummidi, Director, VBJ; Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, UBM India and Mr. Abhijit Mukherjee, Group Director, UBM India.
The CJGF owes its origins to the GJIIE, a show that UBM India has nurtured as the gateway to the Indian jewellery market, particularly in South India. In its refurbished avatar, UBM India’s new jewellery show in Chennai will truly provide an international experience, based on the organizer’s proven expertise in understanding local, national and global markets.
The expo will be studded with a number of world-class features such as Luxury Pavilions, Seminars, Workshops, Panel Discussions, Retail Jewellers Awards, Hall of Fame, and Fashion Shows — to be graced by key stakeholders and celebrities.
The expo will be an excellent platform for jewellery wholesalers, retailers, importers and exporters, jewellery manufacturers, diamond, gemstone, pearl suppliers and traders, precious metal and jewellery mounting traders and suppliers, machinery manufacturers and representatives from various trade and governmental organisations, to come under one roof to meet, connect, network and grow their businesses.
In addition to Tier I, II and III cities in India, the exhibition will have delegate representations from Singapore, Bangladesh, Nepal, Middle East, Singapore and Malaysia among other countries, reinforcing the expo’s position as a proven and trusted sourcing hub of the industry.
The CJGF is one of the five-city jewellery shows (Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Delhi) that will be hosted throughout the year by UBM India. Internationally, UBM plc organises the World’s Biggest Jewellery Trade Event – The Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair.
Speaking at the launch of the CJGF, Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, UBM India said, “We are excited to launch a new show in the midst of all the action in the Chennai market with a fresh new and decidedly more international format. The market size of the gems and jewellery sector in India is expected to reach US$ 100-110 billion by 2021-2022. And despite economic challenges, India’s jewellery demand is estimated to at 573.3 tonnes in 2018 up 14 percent from last year, which bodes well for the market.”
He added, “Supported by quality conscious customers, corporate branding, modern retail formats, and evolving design, the gems and jewellery segment is not just expected to outpace others in domestic sales, but create a deserving and viable industry platform which the CJGF is geared to provide.”

The President of India Shri Ramnath Kovind and The Prime Minister of Swaziland, Shri Barnabas Sibusiso Dlamini unveiled Royal Science and Technology Innovation Park in Phocweni, Swaziland, on 10th April 2018. The park has been constructed by a leading Indian EPC Company Angelique International Limited (AIL), this facility, although operational will formally be dedicated to the people of Swaziland by His Majesty King Mswati III later.
The US$ 20 million (INR 130 crore) IT Park has been financed by the Government of India under bilateral cooperation, and will contribute positively to attain Swazi Government’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through use of Information Technology. The construction was divided into various phases, including construction of office facilities and e-government facilities, as also, transfer of skills. It is Angelique’s extreme competence and professionalism that they delivered the project to the best satisfaction of the Swazi government.
Mr. Rakesh Kumar Ahuja, Executive Vice President of Angelique said, “The newly constructed park comprises of education center – named Advanced School of IT (ASIT) which is running five course under franchisee agreement with one of renowned IT education provider (APTECH). Students have already completed 1st semester. National Contact center (NCC-call center) with working space of 204 calling agents with in-built training center. NCC already has MOU with Swazi Post & Telecom, Swazi Bank, FNB Bank, Swazi Election Commission. Incubation center to convert ideas to entrepreneur on the concept of Start up system like we have in India is also operational with 7 incubates and has capacity of almost 100. Common facilities like conference rooms, Video Conferencing room, meeting rooms, cafeteria, gymnasium, recreation center make it a place to work for. It also house a state-of-the-art data center with 66 smart racks called National Data center (NDC) to become hub for hosting data of all Government functions and also to become gateway of all online functions. Migration process to new data center has already started.
