Rampur, Jan 7: A woman in Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh has accused a man of repeatedly raping and blackmailing her, with a video of the crime, for past one year. The victim mustered the courage to register an FIR after she got pregnant and the accused refused to marry her.
Taking cognizance of the matter, the Rampur police has registered a case against four people.
“A case has been registered against four people under section 376 IPC . Victim’s statement is being recorded and medical examination is being done,” Sudha Singh ASP Rampur said to news agency ANI.
The victim said, “The accused threatened me of uploading the video on internet if I informed anyone about the incident. He raped me for a year by threatening me by showing the video.”
The accused and his family are currently absconding.
Mumbai, Jan 7 The chief of the Bhim Army outfit, Ashok Kamble, was today taken into preventive detention, police said.
Kamble was to hold a meeting in suburban Mulund today to protest the January 1 violence at Bhima-Koregaon and Mulund police said that he was detained in view of this protest.
Kamble had also written to the Kurla police asking for the postponement of the “Hindu Chetna Sangam” currently underway in the city’s Bandra (East) area.
The gathering is an interaction programme of the RSS for its workers and well-wishers and is on the lines of a similar programme the outfit held in Pune in January, 2016.
New Delhi, Jan 7 Foggy and cold conditions prevailed in the city though the minimum temperature rose marginally.
The national capital recorded a low of 4.2 degrees Celsius, the season’s lowest temperature, yesterday.
Delhi savoured a sun-washed afternoon which pushed the mercury to 20.7 degrees Celsius. The city had a low of 6.4 degrees Celsius.
