Cloudy Thursday morning in #Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 3 (IANS) It was a pleasant cloudy morning here on Thursday with the minimum temperature recorded at 27.3 degrees Celsius, normal for the season.

“The sky will remain generally cloudy throughout the day. The maximum temperature will hover around 32 degrees Celsius,” an India Meteorological Department official told IANS.

There was 0.2 mm of rain in the last 24 hours. The humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 80 per cent.

The maximum temperature on Wednesday settled at 31.6 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season’s average. The minimum temperature was recorded at 27 degrees Celsius, normal for the season.

Dalit Woman Suspected of Braid Cutting Lynched in #Agra

Agra, Aug 2 (IANS) An elderly Dalit woman, termed an evil witch involved in cutting hair of women, was beaten to death near here on Wednesday morning, police said.

Family members told police that the old woman had gone to the field to relieve herself, but lost her way and entered the Baghaels Mutnai village under Dauki police station, 25 km from the city, where she was surrounded by a group of men who accused her of coming to cut the hair of some young girls.Her son Manoj told the police that his mother had identified herself and kept pleading to be let off, but a group refused to free her and kept beating her.

As news spread, people from her mohalla ran to rescue her, but she died on way to the hospital.

A senior police official said she was mentally unstable and incoherent, while her grey hair and scary looks seem to have prejudiced the locals.Two persons named in the FIR have disappeared from the village.

Last two weeks, there have been scores of claims of hair cutting in Agra, Mathura, Bharatpur, and Palwal area, fuelled by social media.

देहरादून. डोकलाम पर भारत-चीन के बीच तनाव भरे रिश्तों का असर उत्तराखंड से लगती चीन की 345 किलोमीटर लंबी सीमा पर भी दिखाई देने लगा है. बॉर्डर से लगते इलाके में चीनी ने सैनिकों की सक्रियता बढ़ा दी है. इसे देखते हुए भारत ने भी कदम उठाया है और सेना की एक टुकड़ी को बॉर्डर से लगी चौकियों की तरफ भेज दिया है.

इसके साथ ही, भारत ने बॉर्डर किनारे जर्जर हो चुके पुराने बंकरों की मरम्मत का काम भी तेज कर दिया है. कई जगह नए बंकर भी बनाए जा रहे हैं. ऐसा बताया जा रहा है कि 1962 के बाद पहली बार है जब सेना बॉर्डर पर इस तरह की सक्रियता दिखा रही है.

भारत तिब्बत सीमा पुलिस (आईटीबीपी) के सूत्रों ने बताया कि इस वक्त बॉर्डर पर हाई अलर्ट है इसलिए सुरक्षा के सभी पुख्ता इंतजाम किए गए हैं. उत्तराखंड के साथ साथ हिमाचल के साथ चीन की 260 किलोमीटर की लगती सीमा से भी ऐसी ही रिपोर्ट्स मिल रही हैं.

किन्नौर जिले में बॉर्डर के पास रहने वाले लोगों ने एक हिंदी अखबार को बताया कि उन्होंने चीनी क्षेत्रों में हेलीकॉप्टरों की गड़गड़ाहट सुनी है. यह भी बताया जा रहा है कि चीन अपने क्षेत्र में तेजी से रोड कंस्ट्रक्शन कर रहा है.

Shopian Encounter: Two Armymen, Including Major, Martyred; Three Terrorists Trapped

Srinagar, Aug 3: An Army major, Kamlesh Pandey, and a jawan has been martyred in a gunbattle between security forces and terrorists in Zaipora village of Shopian district in south Kashmir on Thursday. Three other jawans are said to be injured as the encounter continues in the region. As per the latest reports, three militants are said to be holed up in a building in the area, a media report claims. The operation, which is currently underway, began after the security forces received intelligence inputs about the presence of the terrorists in the area.

In a similar incident, earlier on Wednesday evening, two terrorists were killed in an encounter with the security forces in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. “Encounter lasted half an hour, eliminated two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terrorists who were involved in many cases,” SSP Shridhar Patil was quoted as saying.
