AAP crisis: Anna Hazare asks Arvind Kejriwal to step down as Delhi Chief Minister

Social activist Anna Hazare, the one time mentor of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has said that latter should step down from his post as he is facing serious graft charges. "Arvind Kejriwal should step down as CM pending a probe. He should start a probe into his dealings," Anna Hazare said while speaking to news channel CNN-News18. "It is sad to see that founders of anti-corruption movement are facing corruption charges," Hazare further told the news channel. Hazare’s statement comes at a time when Arvind Kejriwal is embroiled in a massive controversy following graft allegations made by sacked Delhi minister Kapil Mishra.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are in trouble. After facing drubbing in the recently concluded MCD elections, fissures within the party have come to the forefront. Kapil Mishra, who was earlier sacked as minister, today went to Anti-Corruption Bureau Headquarters and submitted ‘evidence’ against CM Kejriwal and said he will approach CBI. Earlier he had alleged he was an ‘eyewitness’ to health and PWD minister Satyendar Jain handing over Rs 2 crore to CM Kejriwal.
