Hero MotoCorp hikes scooter, motorcycle prices by up to Rs. 2,200

Hero MotoCorp has decided to pass on the burden of commodity cost to its customers and announced increase in the prices of its two-wheelers in India. The prices of Hero’s scooters and motorcycles will go up in the range of Rs. 500 to Rs. 2,200. The new prices are effective from May 1.

“The company raised the prices-ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 2,200-across different models to partially offset the commodity cost increases, effective from 1 May,” Hero MotoCorp said in a statement.

Hero MotoCorp sells a range of two-wheelers starting from entry-level bike HF DAWN to top-end Karizma ZMR, with prices ranging from Rs. 40,000 to over Rs. 1 lakh.

In April, the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer sold a total of 5, 91,306 units of two-wheelers as against 6,12,739 units in the corresponding month last year, posting 3.49 percent decline.

“The two-wheeler industry witnessed heavy retail off-take towards the end of March 2017 in view of transition from BS III to BS IV vehicles. With the ongoing marriage season, the company expects to maintain the trend of robust sales in May,” the statement added.
