Delhi government notifies delimitation of 272 wards

Boundaries of 150 wards have been changed.

New Delhi: The geographical boundaries of the municipal wards have been redrawn with the State Election Commission notifying the delimitation report on Tuesday. Of the 272 wards, boundaries of 150 wards have been changed. The many Assemblies which have undergone change include Vikaspuri, which will now have seven wards and Greater Kailash which will have three wards. Earlier, each Assembly had four wards under its jurisdiction. The previous delimitation exercise was carried out in 2007 had a population size of 40,000. This time it has been increased to 60,000.

With Alok Kumar Verma likely to head CBI, hectic lobbying on for top job

Four major contenders emerge for post.

New Delhi: With Delhi police commissioner Alok Kumar Verma emerging as the frontrunner for the post of CBI director, senior IPS officers have reportedly started lobbying for the post of the city’s top cop. Among the names doing rounds for the police chief’s post are CRPF additional DG Deepak Mishra, CISF additional DG Dharmendra Kumar, special police commissioner (administration) Amulya Patnaik and Gujarat cadre officer Rakesh Asthana.

Body to probe ‘cash-strapped’ civic bodies

The committee will be headed by the director of local bodies.

New Delhi: Attacking the Opposition on the rampant corruption and mismanagement of funds in the municipal corporations, the Delhi Assembly with a majority of AAP legislators passed a resolution to constitute a fact-finding committee to probe the financial condition of "cash-strapped" civic bodies of EDMC and NDMC. The committee will be headed by the director of local bodies. It will submit its report before the commencement of the Budget session, which is expected to be held in the first week of March.
